My regular women’s breakfast gathering this week is entitled Attitude of Gratitude. It is a topic near and dear to my heart in many ways. I take time on a daily basis to journal on life and what I am grateful for. Gratitude is an easy process for me and seems very natural. Perhaps this explains why I am able to keep myself in a positive emotional state most of the time.
I also understand those critical voices who may be saying ”must be nice - she has so much to be grateful for”. They are correct — we all do! How many of us are really taking time every day to notice all the small pieces of life that are blessings?
This week’s TIME magazine features the 100 most infuential people in the world. Rhonda Byrne, the woman who wrote The Secret is among those featured. In the article, Rhonda’s friend Jack Canfield, author of Chicken Soup for the Souls series writes “I was struck by her energy. She seemed to be in a constant state of bliss, of childlike wonder”. That indeed is The Secret – that ability to see the goodness and the blessings all around. To allow these good things to lift our hearts just enough that we create a magnetism to attract more.
There is a new song by Rob Thomas entitled Little Wonders – a glorious tribute to the small things that make life worthwhile. It is in these small hours that we create, attract and become grateful. The cycle of gratitude is a never ending process.
